Experiences & Accomplishments
Stefan Baral is a physician epidemiologist and a Professor in the Department of Epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health (JHSPH). Stefan completed his certification in Community Medicine as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and Family medicine with the Canadian Council of Family Physicians.
Stefan is the co-director of the Program for Implementation and Equity Research (PIER) within the Center for Public Health and Human Rights and focuses on epidemiology, prevention, and implementation research related to infectious diseases, stigma, and mental health among historically marginalized populations with funding from the National Institutes of Health, the Foundation for AIDS Research (amFAR), the Global Fund, and others. Stefan is the co-director of both Implementation Science core of the Center for AIDS Research (CFAR) and the NIH-funded Mid-Atlantic Consortium (MACC+) Implementation Science support hub. Academically, Stefan co-directs the Implementation Science concentration of the DrPH and teaches two implementation research methods courses.
